Step Forward Program — Modern Vintage Marketplace
Step Forward is an empowering, community-driven initiative by Modern Vintage Marketplace created to break down barriers to employment by providing modern, professional interview attire at absolutely no cost to individuals who need it most.
Participants are welcomed into a private and respectful shopping experience, allowing them to browse without interruption and use full dressing-room facilities. This approach ensures comfort, confidence, and the ability to select clothing that fits well and authentically represents who they are.
Each participant may select a thoughtfully curated interview wardrobe that includes shirt, jacket, bottoms, shoes, socks, and a bag. All items are carefully selected to be current, polished, and workplace-appropriate. Step Forward serves adults who may be aging out of the foster care system, transitioning from housing instability, or leaving abusive situations and building independence. There is no cost and no contract. Participants may keep the clothing for as long as needed and take ownership of their outfits. If, at a later time, the items are no longer needed, participants are encouraged to pay it forward by donating them back to the Step Forward program. This honor-based model reflects the trust and respect at the core of the initiative. Step Forward is built on dignity, trust, and opportunity, helping participants move confidently into their next chapter.

Modern Vintage Marketplace gratefully accepts donations to support Step Forward, including:
- Gently used, modern professional clothing for men and women such as pantsuits, slacks, dress shirts, suites, sportscoats, ties, and dress shoes.
- New dress socks in original packaging, preferably solid dark colors.
- Tech bags, work bags, laptop bags, or messenger bags.
- Unused corporate or professional swag items such as pens, notepads, water bottles (unused), notebooks, planners, and similar supplies.
